About this Author

The unique method of using just five colors as phonics hints was invented by Elinor Boeke to help struggling readers. She was a reading specialist who refined the method over more than 20 years and had great success with tutoring struggling readers. Elinor also held workshops for parents. Her daughter Evangeline, with a strong publishing background, edited the teacher's guide and created related resources.

By tracing vowels in colors, students can SEE which vowels are short, long, silent, schwa, or other. More than a dozen printable resources are now available, including freebies. Learn this surprisingly simple method in an hour. The teacher's guide is only $4 and has complete instructions along with dozens of flexible activities to use all year!
